Young Amateur Astronomers

The YAA is going to be on Summer Hiatus for June, July and August.
Instead of normal meetings, we will have outdoor star parties and events throughout
summer. Please email Jenny at Jenny@harringtonwrites.com to be placed upon the YAA
email list.

The YAA meets on the third Saturday of every month at 12:30 pm.*

Meeting location: Umpqua Bank Basement

                              11205 E Sprague

                               Spokane Valley

*Please note that meeting times may occasionally change due to holidays or other events. Please check the Asterisk newsletter to verify the meeting time each month.

All YAA meetings are open to the public and we encourage you to come check out a YAA event! You do need to be a member to enjoy the full benefits of the YAA, including earning achievement pins.

photo(81)Members receive YAA pin books for each skill they work on, a basic handbook with an introduction to astronomy skills and space science, a planisphere, red-light observing flashlight, gear knapsack, and a lanyard to display the pins they earn!

Youth members also receive the same benefits as other club members in the SAS, with the exception of voting rights. This includes membership in the Astronomical League and the ability to check out club telescopes after membership requirements are met.

Participation in the YAA is for children under the age of 18. Please note that the material is aimed at a 7 to 14 year old audience, but that there are no lower age limits on attending.
